ALBANY- Juan Enrique "Quique" Vega, 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 24, 2021. Juan was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico an December 15, 1928, and was the son of the late Leonides and Leoncia Marrero Vega.
He was a graduate of Vega Baja High School. He married his high school sweet heart Maria De Los Angeles Marzán. They had 3 children Juan, Maritza and Angel.
For many years Juan was a Prudential Insurance Sales person. He was widowed in 1981. In 1988 at the age of 60, he completed a Bachelor's Degree with dual majors in Political Science and Communications from Hunter college, which he attended while working full time for the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles Enforcement unit in New York City. He retired from public service in 1993 and relocated to the Albany area where he met and married Rosamaria Betancourt.
Juan is predeceased by his wife Maria De Los Angeles Marzán (1981) and by his second wife Rosamaria Betancourt (2010) as well as by his son, Juan E. Vega.
Juan is survived by his children, Maritza Vega and Angel Vega, and his daughter-in law Lillian Cruz Spencer. He is also survived by his Grandchildren Candida Marie Vega, Gabriel Vega, Dulcinea (Spencer) Edge, Benjamin Cuprill and Great grandchildren Liliana J'Lyn Soto, Juan Gabriel Soto, and Charley Ellis Edge as well as many other family members and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189. A service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in Park View Cemetery. Gathering size, within our chapels will be based on the most current NYS occupancy requirements. Masks are required and social distancing is to be observed inside and outside our chapels.
