Jude T. Farry

September 16, 1936 — December 5, 2014

SCOTIA-Jude Thaddeus Farry (78), formerly of Scotia, NY died peacefully and courageously in the arms of his family at the Albany Medical Center MICU on December 5, 2014. Born September 16, 1936 in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of the late J. Joseph and Ann Guiltinan Farry. He graduated from Nott Terrace High School class of '54 where he was active in sports, music and the pursuit of his one true love, and future wife Angela Rossi. An all around athlete, he excelled at pole vaulting, clearing as high as 13 feet on a steel pole. In his senior year he won 1st place in the pole vault event in the prestigious William F. Eddy Track Meet. Jude attended Boston College where he pole vaulted and boxed. He was an intercollegiate Light Heavy Weight (175lbs) Champ. A cherished moment from that season of his life was when World Heavy Weight Champ, Rocky Marciano refereed one of his fights. On August 8, 1959 Jude married his one true love and high school sweetheart Angela P. Rossi.

From 1959 to 1963 Jude served in the US Air Force and Air National Guard, on Active duty in support of Cold War missions. He was a proud veteran who supported US Military Troops throughout his life.

In 1996 Jude retired from the Niagara Mohawk Power Company serving in various positions spanning a 33 year career. During that period, Jude was a member of IBEW and for a time, served as a volunteer fireman in Scotia.

Jude loved sports, enjoyed strong black coffee, his newspapers, crossword puzzles, Jeopardy and the NY Giants. He had a very special place in his heart for the Carmelite Sisters, formerly of Schenectady and continued to correspond with Sister Elia, a powerful prayer warrior and close family friend, once they moved to Germantown, NY. He was an intensely devoted husband, father and grandfather. His family, particularly his grand children, were his most precious treasure. Though often bold and larger than life to many, Jude was a humble servant of the Lord who prayed for others throughout the day and night in spite of his own astonishing physical pain, debilitation and suffering. He refused to complain or give up right until his very last breath. He will be remembered for his sharp wit, his astonishing feats of strength, his compassion, fairness and generosity.

He is predeceased by his parents and his first born son Kevin Jude Farry (52).

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Angela R. Farry, his daughter Karen Parrottino (Joseph) of Slingerlands, NY, his son Michael Jude Farry (Anita) of Altamont, NY and three grandchildren Matthew Joseph Parrottino, Madeline Rose Farry and Lucas Michael Jude Farry. He is also survived by his sister Nell D'Luhosch (Peter) of Poughkeepsie, NY his devoted brother Joseph Robert Farry (Sherrill) of Niskayuna, NY and numerous relatives and friends.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to his Doctors Wm. Caramore, Steven Fein, Sulagna "Suzy" Mookherjee, Scott Beegle, and especially the nurses and patient assistants of the Surgical and Medical Intensive Care Units and his visiting nurse Dawn Murgia, who all cared so compassionately for him during his last days. The family would also like to express their gratitude to Father Bob DeLeon and pastoral staff for prayers and spiritual guidance during this difficult time.
