GREEN ISLAND - Judith A. Grande Vartanian, 63, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2007 at the Albany Medical Center Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Judy was born on March 12, 1944 in Troy and was the daughter of the late Julius A. and Phyllis Valenti Grande. She attended Troy High School and graduated from Troy Beauty School. Judy owned and operated her own shop La Grande's Beauty Salon in Troy. She enjoyed traveling, going to casinos, playing cards, shopping, cooking for family and friends and spending time with her family. She had a big generous heart.
The family would like to thank the Heart Transplant Team at Albany Medical Center, especially Dr. Lakhani and his staff for their care and concern given to Judy.
Judy is survived by her children, Paula A. (Ed) Russell of Green Island, Dawn M. (John) Pastore and VJ (Maria) Vartanian III all of Wynantskill; her grandchildren, Brandon, Neil, Brad, Michael, Melissa, Julianna and Nicholas; her step-grandchildren, Michael, Tiffany, Brittany and Alex; and her great-grandson, Jaylen. She is also survived by many cousins and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, 196 Third St., Troy. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Calling hours will be at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
