Judith Mary Baer

October 8, 1951 — July 27, 2018

Menands~

Judith Mary Baer, 66, of Menands, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Albany Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Loving wife of David B. Baer (married 42 years, together for 49). They met in high school and shared a lifetime of love and devotion to each other. Cherished mother of Benjamin Baer. Dearest sister of Joseph (Diane) DeSeve, William (the late Erna) DeSeve, the late Kevin DeSeve (Susan), John DeSeve and Thomas (Cathy) DeSeve. Judith is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

Born in Albany on October 9, 1951, Judith was the daughter of the late William and Lillian (Carroll) DeSeve. Judy received her education locally. She was a graduate of Mercy High School and the College of St. Rose where she received a B.A. in English Literature. She and David embarked on a cross country adventure in 1973, living in 10 states from Maine to California, moving 14 times in the past 45 years. But Judy's first love was always her hometown. The couple finally made it back to Albany seven years ago...back to the love of their family and friends.

For the last 5 years, Judy was employed by St. Catherine's Center for Children. Judy was the most selfless, giving and caring compassionate friend to everyone she met. She was best known for her unbounded love for her family and friends, and cared for those who didn't have someone to care for them. She was an extraordinary woman who supported her staff and her clients in the most special way. She was a truly selfless woman who always put the needs of others before her own. Her family meant everything to her. She was especially proud of her son, Ben, who, at age 29, has grown into an incredibly confident, resourceful and courageous young man, building a life for himself halfway around the world in Japan. She and Ben had a special bond. Even though he was 7000 miles away in Osaka he texted her every night to say, "good night. I love you, Mom and Pop."

Judy loved her pets, especially her cats, Mary Margaret and TT. They were, of course, rescue cats. Judy wouldn't have it any other way. She rescued cats like she rescued people...helping those who couldn't help themselves.

Judith was a devout Catholic, deeply religious with strong faith to the Blessed Virgin Mother Mary. Her faith showed through in her every act of compassion and service to everyone she touched with her humor, generosity, and love.

She was a member and communicant of Christ Our Light Catholic Church (formerly St. Francis de Sales) in Loudonville.
