Albany – Judson K. Coates, 98, recently resided at Good Samaritan Lutheran Nursing Home in Delmar, NY until his death on January 9, 2014.
He was born in Tranquility, NJ February 28, 1915. He lived in Newton, NJ until his retirement. Judson was an independent businessman who grew his own company (Farm Tools Incorporated) that successfully served the farmers of Sussex County, NJ for many years. After retiring in 1980, he moved to Bethlehem, PA before moving to Albany, NY in 2004. There he resided at Avila (an independent retirement home) until November 2012, and Kenwood Manor (an assisted living facility) in Delmar until July 2013.
Judson married Nettie Ackerson in 1936. Nettie, his wife for seventy-five years predeceased him in March of 2012. He is survived by his son Thomas, of Voorheesville, and his wife, Karen; a daughter Marilyn Clayton of Nipomo, CA and her husband, Michael; four grandchildren Mary (Robert), James (Claudia), Paulina (Kenneth), and Colleen (Ricardo); one great-granddaughter Alexis, and two step great-grandchildren Adrian and Kira.
His memorial service will be graveside in late spring at Tranquility Cemetery in New Jersey at a time when family members from Argentina, California, Florida, Michigan, and Louisiana will be able to attend.
