Julianne (Paquin) Jarvis (92), a resident of Guilderland, NY for many years, passed away on May 24, 2024 at Teresian House Nursing Home in Albany, with many family members at her side.
Born in Jamestown, NY on Sept. 17,1931 to James Lacy Paquin and Ruth Isabella (McGee) Paquin, Julie was graduated from Jamestown High School in 1949. A talented artist, she attended the Moore Institute of Art, Science, and Industry in Philadelphia, and also worked as a model for Strawbridge & Clothier department store in Philly.
In 1952, she was accepted as a stewardess for American Airlines. She remained with the airline until her 1954 wedding to David M. Jarvis of Great Neck, NY. Their 60-year marriage resulted in six children and several moves due to Dave's job with IBM, including Buffalo, Schenectady, Glens Falls, and Albany.
In addition to the monumental task of raising three boys and three girls, Julie accepted a job in 1971 as art teacher at Christ the King Catholic School in Guilderland, NY, teaching there for 15 years.
Julie and Dave often enjoyed trips to Cape Cod with friends, but focused mainly on their family throughout their long lives. Their home in Delmar was the central spot for family gatherings for almost 30 years. Julie loved to laugh, and was always encouraging and extremely proud of her children and grandchildren. Julie loved music, everything from Bing Crosby to the Beatles, movies, and Sunday NY Times crossword puzzles. From time to time, she returned to art, producing wonderful portraits for family members and close friends.
Julie was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Dave, in 2014, and her much-loved brother, James (Pat) Paquin. She is survived by her children; David (Camille Valentine), Brad (Jan), Jennifer, Mary (Sara), Bruce (Virginia), and Maggie (Mike) Hurley, and her grandchildren; James, David and Matty Blair, Diana (Brendan) Lins, Caroline (Benjamin) Johns, Taylor Jarvis, Rose and Nicole Jarvis, and Julia and Megan Hurley, along with four great-grandchildren; Natalie and Charlotte Lins, and Arlo and Thora Johns.
