Julie Harmon of Rensselaer, NY passed away peacefully on July 23 with her family by her side. Julie was born in Maplewood, NY to the late Elias and Anna Pridon in 1926. She was united in marriage to the love of her life Thomas M. Harmon at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Watervliet, NY on September 9, 1950.
Tom and Julie spent their careers working on Long Island, where she worked for many years in retail at Macy's. After retiring, the pair returned to the Capital District to be near their children.
A dedicated homemaker, Julie enjoyed strawberry picking and baking, but mostly spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Julie is predeceased by her sisters Eva and Mary and two brothers, Peter and William. She is survived by her husband Thomas M. Harmon and her loving children Thomas R. (Sara) Harmon, James F. Harmon and Patricia A. (Anthony) Cannistraci. Julie is the cherished grandmother of Lauren, Christopher, Katrina, Stephan, Elizabeth, Luke, Jesse and Noah and the adored great-grandmother of Drea Rose. She is also survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Looney and Sophie Grenchus, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be on Sunday July 27 from 12:00PM to 6:00PM at the Cannistraci residence, 44 Drumlough Rd, Averill Park, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday July 28, 2014, at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush, NY. Internment will be at 1:30PM in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
