K. Sammy Blassberg

Karen "Sammy" Blassberg, 47, passed away on Thursday February 24, 2011 after battling with breast cancer, like a warrior princess. Sammy was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Anthony and Barbara (Silberg) Blassberg. She was a graduate of William H. Hall High School in West Hartford, CT., and attended Hartford College for Women. Sammy graduated Summa Cum Laude from the International Academy of Dramatic Arts & Sciences. Her energy always brought happiness, laughter, sunshine, serenity and strength to all the lives she touched.
In addition to her parents, Sammy is survived by her sister Lisa (Brion) Brandes, her brother Alan (Stephanie Swartz) Blassberg, her nephew Benjamin Brandes, her uncle Edward S. Lurie, her cousins Jason (Maryellen) Lurie, Adam (Michele) Lurie, and her rescue dog, Prada, who provided her with love, support and happiness. She was predeceased by her aunt Carol Silberg Lurie.
Services will be held Sunday, at 12:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Interment will follow the service at Beth Emeth Cemetery, Turner Rd., Loudonville. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Care 275 7th Ave. Floor 22, NY, NY 10001 in Sammy's honor.
