ALBANY – Karen L. Johnson, 56, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2005 at Albany Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Karen was born on January 17, 1949 in Albany to Rosalie (Williams) Bigger and the late John Rollin.
She worked as a law department document specialist for the NYS Department of Consumer Fraud in Albany for 32 years before retiring in March of 2003.
Karen was a loving and devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and best friend. She enjoyed making candy and baking cookies for her family and enjoyed traveling.
She was a life member the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Chapter 10.
In addition to her mother, Karen is survived by her husband of 37 years, Herbert Johnson, her daughter, Lenise M. Johnson, her son, Lawrence H. (Christie) Johnson Sr., 8 grandchildren, Kierra, Kareem, Kylia, Kajanee, Lawrence H. Jr., Kemani, Khasiyah and Jada, 8 sisters, Zany Johnson, Denise Harris, Lenora Satterwhite, Marva Bigger, Roseann Crayon, Consuela Valazquez, Susan Rollin and Denise Watson, two brothers, Harvey Bigger Jr. and John Rollin Jr., two aunts, Elizabeth Twiggs and Frances Poole, 2 sisters-in-law, Inez Williams and Rosa Johnson, a brother-in-law, Kenneth Johnson and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). A calling hour will precede the service from 5 to 6 p.m.
