Karen M. Sloan

SCHENECTADY – Karen M. Sloan, 68, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, after a courageous battle, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Lissie Benacquista. She was an avid Bingo player and a gifted cook who enjoyed preparing meals for everyone. Karen is the beloved mother of Antonio Valles (Shannon Kennedy) Quesada and RaeDean Raphael (Kristen) Quesada. She is the loving sister of Ralph Benacquista, Jr. and the late Michael and Toni Lee. Karen is the cherished grandmother of Nycole, Christian "CJ", Gianni, Justin, Ryan and Joshua. She is the aunt of Brandee and Richard Ellis and Michelle, Susan and John Laska, Jr. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren and many cousins. Karen's family would like to thank the staff of E1-ICU at Ellis Hospital for all of the loving care they gave to Karen during her stay.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of Karen M. Sloan.
