ALBANY, NY – Karen M. Mitchell, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2007 at Albany Medical Center Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Albany, she is the loving daughter of Zenobia Mitchell and the late Richard Hawkins. She lived in Albany for most of her life. Karen was a very giving person and always willing to help those in need. She often opened her home to anyone who needed a place to stay. She loved her children and family deeply and loved to spend time with them and her many friends. Karen is the beloved mother of Shawn (Jada Wilson) Mitchell, Barry Tyce, Jr. and Shardonay Tyce. She is the cherished sister of Tara Mitchell, Vincent VanNess and Anthony VanNess. Karen is the close friend of Dawayne Parson. Also surviving are a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday at 12:00 noon at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 10:00 to 12:00 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands.
