COLONIE – Karen A. Thomas, 54, passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, January 10, 2006. Born on December 2, 1951, she was an Albany resident for most of her life. Karen was a graduate of McClosky High School and Albany Vocational School of Nursing. She worked in the field of nursing for 35 years at Albany Medical Center, Ann Lee Nursing Home, Child's Nursing Home and more recently at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center. Karen devoted her life to her family and her work. Anyone who knew Karen knew she was a most kind and caring person, who did her best to lighten the burdens of others. She will be greatly missed. Karen is the loving daughter of Jeanne Feeley and the late Ernest Bartholomew. She is the beloved wife of Darrell Thomas and the devoted mother of Tara J. (Santone Allen) Thomas. Karen is the cherished grandmother of Amoni, Ariana, Aaliyah and Santone, Jr. She is the loving sister of Dina Bartholomew. Also surviving is her brother-in-law, Kevin Thomas and her dear friend, Shauneen Kuczek.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany. Calling hours will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Karen possessed a special love for the elderly and children. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House or the Boys and Girls Clubs of Albany.
