ALTAMONT----With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Karen M. Vivenzio, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, who left us peacefully on September 27, 2024, at the age of 69. Born on July 29, 1955, to Elizabeth (Butlin) Daguillo and the late Samuel Daguillo, she was one of six children and graduated from Guilderland High School.
Karen lived a life full of love, devotion, and hard work. Her passions were as unique as her spirit. If she wasn’t working, you could find her in her flower gardens, carefully designing breathtaking landscapes and water features that brought nature’s beauty to life. She loved spending time outdoors, often mowing her lawn with pride and took great joy in caring for her cherished Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, who were her loyal companions for many years.
Karen was a natural at blending her love of gardening with the serenity of nature, creating peaceful environments where she could enjoy watching hummingbirds visit her blooms.
For over 52 beautiful years, Karen was the devoted wife of Joseph A. Vivenzio, with whom she shared a deep and enduring love. Together, they built a strong and caring family, and their home was a place of warmth and celebration, especially during their annual 4th of July parties. Friends and family were always welcomed with open arms.
Karen is survived by her two sons, Ian Vivenzio (Nicole Levesque) and Jeffrey (Maria) Vivenzio, who brought immense pride and joy to her life. Her legacy will also live on through her cherished grandchildren: Giuliana, Giada, Antonia, and Luciano; siblings Pauline Zolner, predeceased siblings Samuel Daguillo, Christine (Kenneth) Sagendorf, Gerald (Cheryl) Daguillo and her twin sister and best friend, Kathleen (Norris) Ackert; and several nieces and nephews. She treasured every moment with her family, and her warmth, wisdom, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Her impact on those around her was immeasurable. Karen will forever be remembered for her compassion, strength, incredible work ethic, and unwavering dedication to those she loved.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 4, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Karen's name.
May she rest in eternal peace.
