ALBANY – Karl G. Dorsett, Jr., 57, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Albany, he was the son of Karl Sr. and Danila Dorsett.
Karl lived in Albany for 49 years. He also resided in Key West, FL for 8 years where he was a prominent drummer. He has worked with a large number of well-known bands in the Capital Region, such as Tino and the Revlons, Charlie Smith Band, and Jeff Gonzales. He was an avid Giants fan and enjoyed trail walking and watching old classic movies.
Along with his parents, he is survived by his sister Alice Dorsett; niece Alicia Smith; great niece Mariah and great nephew Alex.
Karl was predeceased by his sister, Catherine Dorsett-Smith in 2011.
Karl was a kind, caring and generous person to all that knew him. He will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 7:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2 Pine West Plaza, Albany, NY 12205 or the National Kidney Foundation, Finance Department, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016 in Karl's name.
