Guilderland – Karl R. Kappes, 77, died Friday, January 6, 2006 at the Albany VA Medical Center. Born in Albany and a life long resident, he retired from C.M.P. Industries after also working at General Electric. He was a graduate of Philip Schuyler High School in Albany. Beloved friend of Diana O. Young; Godfather of Jeffrey C. Keimer and Schuyler E. Keimer, with whom he resided following Diana's death in 1998. Karl was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Karl R. Kappes, Sr. and sisters, Beatrice McHugh and Beverly Stansfield. He is survived by his brothers, Edward Kappes, Richard Kappes, Donald Kappes, William Kappes, Robert Kappes, Keith Kappes, and sisters Helen Kappes and Sharon Brennan, along with his aunt and uncle, Mrs. And Mrs. Hilbrand Bekkering.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road in Colonie. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Entombment will be held at the Gerald B. H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery in the spring.
