Karl Anthony Richerson affectionately called "Tony" by his family and "Karl" by his many friends. Karl was born on February 14, 1967 to the
late Leroy Richerson and Katie Pearl Rouse-Richerson.
Educated in the Albany school district Karl played basketball for Albany High School and was considered an outstanding player. He received
a 4 year scholarship to St. Thomas University in Miami FL where he continued to play the sport that he loved. Karl could always be found
playing basketball at one of the many Capital Region basketball courts or YMCA.
Karl enjoyed working with the youth, he spent many years as a Youth Counselor. Karl was known to many as the "Big Teddy Bear" as well as a
Gentle Giant".
For over 20 years he worked as a Security Guard/Bouncer in many of the local night clubs in the Tri-Citi area. Most recently Karl worked at Siena College as a Security Guard where he was loved and respected by co-workers, students and faculty.
Karl leaves to cherish his memories his son Jay Richerson of Syracuse NY, sisters, Patricia Hines and Algurtha Rouse-Rose of Albany, NY
and Christine Rouse of Atlanta Ga. Nephews, Derek Hines, Eric Hines, Lekedrick Grate and Kenneth Rose, Nieces, Camille Hines and Katee'
Rogers. Special cousins, Vivian Rouse, Patricia and Jackie Thomas.
Along with a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many loving friends.
Special acknowledgement goes out to some of Karl's closest childhood friends, Constance West, Rick Vincent, Chris West, James Taylor, Donas Scott, Gerald Malcom, Brian Domingo, Ed Baskerville and Troy Turner. We would also like to recognize and thank Karl's numerous friends, co-workers and associates who supported him during this difficult time.
A special thank you to James Taylor who stayed by Karl's bedside until he said goodbye.
