ALBANY- Katherine (McNeal) Gardner went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 29, 2011, in the St. Peter's Hospital, after a short illness.
Kitty was the daughter of the later Elder Joseph and Missionary Needa McNeal. She retired from Jacobson's Shirt Factory and Montgomery Wards to become the family's exclusive childcare provider. She was a member of Wilborn Temple COGIC where she served in the choir many years ago.
Katherine is survived by her devoted, faithful niece/care giver, Vanessa Carter; two brothers, Joseph (Phyllis) McNeal and Nathan (Lucy) McNeal; two sisters, Hazel (George) Ledbetter and Ernestine McNeal Gates; five grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Her husband, Elmo Gardner, her son, Raymond Johnson and her daughter, Valerie Johnson, preceded her in death.
A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Friday, June 3, 2011, at 12 noon at Wilborn Temple COGIC, 121 Jay Street, Albany. A one hour viewing begins at 11 AM and Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
