DELMAR - Katherine Louise Vallelunga, 94, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home.
Katherine was born on October 9, 1917 in Schenectady and was raised in Catskill. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Olive Vincent. She was an office clerk for St. Peter's Hospital for over 20 years before retiring in 1985. She was famous for her Italian cooking and baking homemade pies and cakes. She was a very caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed dearly. She was a vibrant woman and full of life.
Katherine is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Anthony J. Vallelunga; her loving daughters, Theresa Cooney and Gayle (Richard) Leonard; her cherished grandchildren, Nicolle Quackenbush, Kristina Leonard, Vincent Luciano, and Kimberly (Myles Furgenson) Ferraro; nine great grandchildren and several niece and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Nicholas J. Natale and her brother, Robert Vincent.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie then to Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
