ALBANY_Kathleen A. Hurlburt, 80, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2015 at Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home with her family at her side.
Kathleen was born on January 26, 1935, daughter of the late, James J. and Eleanor (Rice) Mahoney, at her home on Eileen St. in Albany, where she grew up and later raised her own children.
On September 17, 1956 she married the love of her life, Edward G. Hurlburt Jr. in Albany. Together they raised their three beloved daughters, Kathleen, Ann and Rosemary. Kathleen was a devoted wife, mother...and camper. For 41 years she and Ed and their children enjoyed the Adirondacks at Mt. Kenyon Campground every summer. Kathleen had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Kathleen worked as a Legal Secretary for Pozefsky, Bramley and Murphy. She was a member of Holy Cross Altar Rosary Society, Mended Hearts and a Columbiette with the Albany Knights of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years Ed and her infant son, Edward James Hurlburt.
Kathleen is survived by her three daughters, Kathleen (Michael) Deitz of Powder Springs, GA., Ann (James) Malone of Albany and Rosemary (Gerald) Gavin of Latham; her sister-in-law Elizabeth Comfort of Lee's Summit, Missouri; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Kathleen is also predeceased by brothers, James, Thomas and John and her sister Eleanor.
The family would like to offer their deepest gratitude to Debbie, Yvette, Jamie and the wonderful and caring staff at Van Rensselaer Manor for the loving care given to Kathleen.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 from 5-8 pm at New Comer Funeral Home, Colonie, New York.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Kathleen will be on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, Latham with Rev. Geoffrey Burke, officiating. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery.
