Kathleen J. Lanning

WATERFORD, NY – Kathleen J. Lanning, 53, died suddenly on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. Born in Albany on May 5, 1955, she is the loving daughter of Charles L. Diener, Jr. of Clifton Park and the late Joan R. Diener. She was a graduate of Shenendehowa High School and the University of Vermont. Kathy worked for Shenendehowa School District and the KMART Corp. in Clifton Park. Kathy will be remembered as a camping enthusiast and a person who enjoyed her gardening, children, her love of animals and needlepoint. She is the beloved wife of Craig A. Lanning. She is the devoted mother of Stephanie L. (Jeff) Geller of Schuylerville and Matthew T. Lanning of Waterford. Kathy was especially proud of Stephanie's girl scouting Gold Award and Matthew's Eagle Scout Award. She is the stepmother of Christine M. (Steve) Breton of North Attleboro, MA and Judi K. (Todd) Miller of Scottsdale, AZ. She is the cherished sister of Karen J. Diener of Albany, William J. Diener of Webster, NY and Robert C. Diener of Newark, NY. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 4 nephews and her extended family, Earl, Kathie and Mark and Anna Cross.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of Kathleen J. Lanning.
