Kathleen L. Mengel, 68, of Slingerlands, NY, passed peacefully in her sleep on Christmas morning 2022 in Colonie, NY.
Born November 5 1954, in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of Martin and DeGloris Dawson.
Kathleen worked for a long time for Albany County in various administrative roles, she loved helping the people she served. Kathy was an avid animal lover, never passing a stray animal without trying to take it home. Kathy was a loving and protective mother and grandmother, who cherished her time with her children and grandchildren above all.
She is survived by her children, Cindy Kimmerer, Jennifer (Jamie) Cote, Robert (Deborah) Mengel, and predecesed by her daughter Jamie L. Mengel; grandchildren Mariah, Robert, Mikhail, Mckenzie, Maddy, Shayna, and Evan; Great-grandchildren E'siah, King, K'yani, and Khaliek; Kathy is also survived by her sister Joanne (Bob) Majkut, and brother Mike (Gail) Dawson; Kathy is also survived by many nieces and nephews with whom she loved with all her heart.
Friends and family may call, Friday, December 30th, from 3-6pm, at New Comer Funeral Home at 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie, NY 12205.
