ALBANY- Kathleen (Kay) T. King, 80, of Albany died Tuesday as a result of a tragic accident while in service to others.
Kay was born in Amsterdam and was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Katherine Collins Ryan. She was a1945 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. Kay was a 1947 graduate of Albany Business College where she met and married her husband Harold E. King. She was employed as a Secretary II at the NYS Division of Parole for 38 years. Kay was co owner with her husband of the former Loudon Liquor Store in Albany for many years. She was the secretary of her alumni class reunions and the NYS Division of Parole retirees. Kay was a dedicated volunteer with Meals on Wheels and was especially fond of her fellow volunteers and her clients. She active with the needlework group at Guilderland Town Hall.
Kay was predeceased by her husband, Harold E. King; her son Gary Harold King, her grandson Verne Harold King and her brothers Edward and Thomas Ryan.
She is the beloved mother of Sandra J. Felthousen (William), Stephen J. King (Kim) and Donna M. King-Royal (John). Kay is the cherished grandmother of Kristen and Laurel Felthousen, Katherine and Ryan King, Cara Holt (Tayari), Luke Remmert (Lindsay), Christopher Remmert (Stephanie), and Helena Royal. She is the great grandmother of Vashan Collins and Lilleah Remmert. Kay is also survived by extended family in Salt Lake City, UT., Johnstown, NY and Indian Lake, NY.
Funeral services will be Friday morning at 9:15 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave) then to Christ the King Church at 10:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. The parish family of Christ the King Church will gather on Thursday at 4:30 for a service of prayer and remembrance. All are welcome. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Senior Services of Albany, Meals on Wheels, 25 Delaware Ave Albany NY 12210 in memory of Kathleen T. King.
