Kathryn E. Cole

December 13, 1939 — September 13, 2012

COLONIE – Kathryn "Kay" (Tyler) Cole passed away on September 13, 2012 surrounded by her family after a year- long battle with cancer. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of William W. and Helena (Probst) Tyler, Sr. who predeceased her. She was a graduate of Bethlehem High School and St. Peter's School of Nursing, Class of 1960. Kay worked as a nurse for nine years then took time off to raise her family. She worked part-time for twenty-two years at The Springs (Hallmark) Nursing Home in Troy, retiring two years ago.

Kay is survived by her loving husband and partner of fifty-one years, Alexander "Al" Cole. She leaves to cherish her memory nine children; Kathleen (John) Hamilton, Maureen, William (Lisa), Michael (Debbie), James (Debbie Kelly), Matthew (Erin O'Connor), Kevin (Kelly), Mary (Greg Franklin) and Daniel (Colleen) Cole. To carry on her legacy are fourteen grandchildren; Maura, Bridget and James Hamilton, Alexandra, and Tyler Catalfamo, Erin, Sean, Ryan, Kate, Jeffrey, Michael, Ashley, Sam and Julia Cole. Kay also leaves her brother, William W. Tyler, Jr. and her favorite brother-in-law, Joseph Cole.

She was blessed with a fourth daughter in Jean Wickham D'Angelo and many special friends from her nursing school cohorts to the neighbors of University Street, especially her coffee friend, June Maniscalco. Al and Kay have many friends at Alpine Lake especially Karen and Steve Lohnes. Sharing Kay's love of Alpine Lake was her friend Peg Rowe who recently predeceased her. Kay loved the shores of Cape Cod, the beauty of Alpine Lake and all things Irish. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Tedesco and the staff of NYOH for their care and encouragement this past year. A special thank you is also extended to the staff and volunteers of Community Hospice, especially Michele Gilmore. Their support and kindness of our many friends enabled us to keep our Mom home in her final days. We will be eternally grateful for the gift of our family time in those days.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
