ILION, NY – Kathryn R. Callahan, 98, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2009 at the Teresian House in Albany. She was born on July 21, 1910 in Luzerne, PA and was the daughter of the late Patrick and Anne Sullivan Lyons. She was a long term resident of Ilion before moving to Colonie in 1998.
Kathryn retired from Univac in Utica after 25 years of service. She volunteered for the Herkimer County Board of Elections, enjoyed traveling with her friends on bus trips and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Kathryn is survived by her children, Jack (Linda) Callahan of Loudon, TN, Patricia Cullum of Colonie and Barbara (Michael) McMahon of Poughkeepsie; her grandchildren, Erin, Kimberly, David, Laura, Richard, Michael and Maureen; 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Callahan, four sisters and three brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Infant of Prague Chapel at the Teresian House. A calling hour will be held prior to the mass on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Teresian House. Interment will be at Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion.
