Albany- Kathy A. Murphy-Rought, left us too soon on Saturday, January 12, 2019 with her husband Harold Rought and family by her side. She was the daughter of William A. Murphy (Eleanor) and the late Betty E. Murphy. Besides her husband, she is survived by her sister Linda Nielsen (John), brother Jack Murphy (Judy), nieces and nephews Lisa (Brett), Matt (Takako), Beth (Dan), Rebecca, grand niece and nephew Jessica and Gregory, step-children Sara (Marcus), Andrew (Caite) and the Dallas Family.
Kathy (Murph) was known for her love of the Wizard of Oz, her cairn terriers, the Buffalo Bills and the "Velveteen Rabbit". She was a wonderful, compassionate and spiritual soul.
When she retired, she and her husband took adventures in their RV when they weren't watching the ships on the St. Lawrence River.
She was a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor and had worked at Acces-VR, Unified Services of Rensselaer County and Albany High School. She was an unrelenting advocate for people with disabilities.
A Celebration of Kathy's life will be held on February 2, 2019 from 1-4 at the Italian American Community Center, 257 Washington Ave Ext, Albany, NY 12205.
