Albany~
Katina G. Chapski, 94, of Albany, Entered into Eternal Life on Monday, July 17, 2017.
She was the daughter of the late Michael and Elena (Visalli) Gullotti.
After moving from the Bronx at a young age, Katina, along with her late brother Vincent, enjoyed her childhood growing up on the family's apple farm in Highland, New York. Katina and her younger brother, Vincent, were raised by their loving parents and were constantly surrounded by the beauty of nature and laughter. She really loved the farm animals and her dog "Buddy".
Katina graduated from Highland Falls High School at age 14. She graduated from Albany State Teachers College at age 18, and at age 19 graduated from Columbia University with a Masters Degree.
She was a beautiful, smart and dedicated woman. Mrs. Chapski taught social studies at Babylon Junior - Senior High School for 40 years, and was also certified to teach French and English. Mrs. Chapski loved her students and they absolutely adored her as well. She also coached cheer leading. She was simply a gem.
Katina was of the Catholic faith and was a former member of St. Francis de Sales Parish. She was also an avid NY Mets fan.
Katina's love of education was impressed upon her son, Michael (Sonja) Chapski, also a math teacher and coach at Colonie Central High School. Survivors also include her nieces and nephews; Gregory Gullotti, Barbara Daversa and Vicky Gullotti, and great-nieces and nephews, Nicole, Megan, Benjamin, Justine and Gabrielle.
Katina's love for life and perpetual kindness will be remembered and celebrated by her remaining family and friends.
Besides her parents, Katina was predeceased by her brother Vincent Gullotti.
A graveside service with interment will take place privately Memory Gardens, Colonie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
