Albany - Keith Eugene Kissee, 55 departed this life in the arms of Jesus Christ on January 10, 2011. He was born on January 12, 1955 to Elmo and Floscelia Kissee in Danville, Virginia. Keith grew up in NYC and attended Epiphany Church where he served as an altar boy while attending Epiphany Elementary School.
While attending Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn, NY, he became the first African-American president of the student body. Keith attended Manhattan College on a partial academic and track & field scholarship in which received his Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Theology in 1977. He was the founder of the KK Track Club in Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration.
He married Adrienne Smith of Brooklyn, NY on August 30, 1975 and began his career as a Minority Specialist with the NYS Department of Civil Service. He served as an advocate for minorities & protected class employees. Later, he was appointed Director of Affirmative Action programs by Patrick Bulgaro in 1979 under Commissioner Chu for NYS Taxation and Finance.
Keith is predeceased by his son Mark Anthony Kissee and is survived by his mother Floscelia Jordan, wife Adrienne, children Duane Thomas, Damien Kissee, Vanessa Kissee, & Davone Kissee as well as his God daughter Tamara Norman. He is also mourned by his siblings James, Myra (Gail), Charles, David, Anthony, & Bernard Kissee and best friend Irving Fannell as well as his grandchildren Duane Jr, Hakeem, Starrester, Nasheema, Laniya, Dominique and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Home going services will be Saturday morning at 10:00 at Wilborn Temple COGIC, 121 Jay Street, Albany. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9 to 10 am at the Church. Interment, Graceland Cemetery.
