GUILDERLAND – Rev. Kenneth Curry was given life by his Creator and was born on March 6, 1939, the child of John and Esther Curry. On September 17, 1939, he received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God. On May 31, 1953, he publicly confessed his faith and was confirmed at Paul the Apostle Lutheran Church, Detroit, MI. On August 12, 1967 he received the gift of a beloved companion in his spouse, Shirley. After receiving a B.A. degree from Wayne State University, he served his country in the Navy Active Reserve (1963-1969). He received a Masters of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary, Springfield, IL, in 1971. Kenneth was ordained as a pastor in the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod on September 12, 1971. During his 35 years of ministry he served congregations in Melcher and Lacuna, IA, Youngstown, NY as a Navy Reserve chaplain, and had served as pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, Albany, NY for the past five years. He was predeceased in death by his brother, John Ronald Curry. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Shirley, his sons, Timothy (Elizabeth), and David (Lauren), two grandsons, Jacob and Ian and a brother, Gary.
A service of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 1500 Western Ave., Albany. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 5:00 to 8:00 at the church. Interment will be in Glenn Eden Cemetery, Detroit, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be given to Christ Lutheran Church, or to the Lutheran Hour Ministries, St. Louis, MO.
