SLINGERLANDS – Kenneth L. Coons, 75, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2011 at St. Peter's Hospital, after a month long battle with acute myeloid leukemia.
Kenny was born on August 25, 1935 in Albany and was the son of the late Lloyd and Alma (Davis) Coons. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He worked in the sales department and was a driver for the Coca Cola Co. in Albany for over 25 years and after for NAPA Auto Parts as a driver. After retirement he loved spending time with his wife, daughter and granddaughters. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.
Kenny is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 31 years, Carol A. (Greenhouse) Coons; his loving daughter, Tara L. (Nick) Hulett; his cherished granddaughters, Alexis and Savannah Hulett and his grandson, Ryder Hulett due next month; his sons, John (Lynn) Coons, Douglas (Erika) Coons, Kenneth (Janet) Coons and William Coons; his grandchildren, John, Quinn, Nicole, Braeden, Kelly, Kayla and Bryan; his siblings, William Coons, Norma Poleto and Alma Mitchell; his loving mother and father-in-law, Ethel and Joe Greenhouse; his devoted brothers-in-law, Mark and Matt Greenhouse and several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his siblings, Carol Middleton and Arthur Coons.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
