VOORHEESVILLE- Kenneth A. McKaig Sr, 81, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018 surrounded by the love of his family.
Ken was born in Albany, NY on February 19, 1937 to the late Alfred and Charlotte McKaig. Ken served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1956-1960 in the Pacific Fleet. In 1961 Ken married the love of his life, Viola. They were married for 57 years and together raised three children. Ken retired from the NYS Dept. of Parks and Rec. with over 25 years of service. During his retirement he enjoyed his favorite pastimes of hunting with his sons and friends, camping, fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his family.
Ken is predeceased by his brother, Don McKaig.
He is survived by his loving wife, Viola McKaig, his children, Kenneth A. McKaig Jr., Michael (Sandra) McKaig, Marsha (Paul) Deere, his grandchildren, Chelsea, Spencer, Taylor, and Shelby, his sister, Barbara (Joe) Urell, his sister-in-law, Barbara Ann McKaig, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 11:00am-12:00pm with a service to immediately follow. Burial will be held at Saratoga National Cemetery, Saratoga, NY.
The family wishes to thank all those at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center for all of their care and compassion.
