NISKAYUNA –Ken Pick, 57, passed away at home on Saturday, August 16, 2014, surrounded by his loving family following a courageous and dignified five-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Ken is survived by his beloved son Kyle Kenneth Pick, his loving wife Carmen Pick (Mojica), his step children Michael Rogers (NYC) and Cristina Rogers (San Francisco). He also leaves behind his brother Warren Pick (Florida). Raised in Huntington, Long Island Ken graduated from SUNY Oswego and received his Master's Degree from the University at Albany. As a demographic analyst, Ken loved studying numbers. Ken's thirty year career of public service involved examining census data, electoral results and public poling information to predict immerging trends and changes of public opinion in order to make New York State a better place to live. Following a lengthy tenure with the New York State Assembly, beginning in 1980, Ken moved to the Empire State Development Corporation, the New York State Department of Education and most recently, the New York State Senate/Assembly Hispanic and Puerto Rican Task Force, where his skills and efforts will have a lasting impact benefiting a growing yet underrepresented segment of society. Ken passed on his love of baseball to Kyle, and never missed a game when Kyle was playing. Even as his condition worsened Ken was a fixture at Schenectady Indians games, flipping burgers and cheering the team on. He wouldn't let his illness prevent him from traveling with Kyle's team for the fifteen year old Babe Ruth World Series in Van Buren, Arkansas in 2012.
