SCOTIA – Kermit W. Gilson, 75, of Scotia, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Glendale Nursing Home. He was born in Peru, NY and was the son of the late Kenneth and Catherine Gilson and brother of the late Wyona McMeekin. He was a graduate of Plattsburgh State University.
A longtime educator, Kermit taught in the Broadalbin Perth Central School District for many years. He enjoyed nature, reading, computer challenges, frog hunting and photography.
Kermit is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years to Sandra Bielecki Gilson and his sister, Diana Auger. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Saturday from 10 am to 12 noon at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. A prayer service will follow at 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave., Scotia, NY 12302 in memory of Kermit W. Gilson.
