GUILDERLAND-Kira E. Hoelzli, 80, of Gari Lane passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Ellis Hospital. She was born in Estonia, the daughter of the late Alexander and Elisabeth Ammon. Kira immigrated to Schenectady in 1953 and met her husband, Andreas Hoelzli on the ship to the United States. She was a Breast Cancer survivor. Kira was an avid quilt maker, seamstress and artist. She also was the world's best cook and baker. Kira was hardworking, generous and optimistic. Her family was her whole world. She was a member of the quilters' guild of Guilderland and Rotterdam.
She is the loving mother of Rosemarie Klapp (Kenneth) of Schenectady, Andrew Hoelzli of Rotterdam, Frederich Hoelzli of Schenectady, Heidi Beliveau of Schenectady, Herb Hoelzli (Joseph Vartuli), of Palm Springs, CA and Hans Hoelzli (Holly Wood), of Esperance. She is the beloved grandmother of Kyle and Erik Klapp, Emily Hoelzli, Julia Hoelzli, Danielle Hoelzli, Renee Hoelzli, Hans Hoelzli, Jr., and Alexis Hoelzli. She is also survived by her great granddaughter Chloe Killenberger and her siblings, Rita McKee, Thea Kazmer, Bruno Ammon and Udo Ammon.
In addition to her parents, Kira was predeceased by her husband, Andreas Hoelzli.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Schenectady Memorial Park, Rotterdam
