Kiran Vivekanand passed away in comfort and peace on November 30, 2011 at his home in Guilderland, NY after succumbing to Glioblastoma Multiforme, a tumor of the brain and spine.
Kiran was born on September 13, 2007 at Vassar Hospital in Poughkeepsie to Saikumar and Laurie Vivekanand. He lived in Pleasant Valley and attended Cinnamon Tree Childcare Center in East Fishkill until 2010 when he moved to Guilderland with his family. He attended Tendercare Childcare Center in Guilderland until becoming ill in April 2011. Kiran loved puppies, cuddles, school, cooking, nursery rhymes, reading stories, playing with friends, and watching Tom and Jerry and Thomas the Tank Engine.
Kiran is survived by his adoring parents, his cats Spanky and Stymie, maternal grandparents George and Beverly Scott of South Salem, NY, paternal grandparents S. Vivekanand and Indira of Bangalore, India, great grandmother Mary Edwards of West Haven, CT and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and extended family.
Kiran was also cared for with great compassion by many doctors, nurses, therapists and staff at Albany Medical Center, Children's Hospital of Boston, Sunnyview Rehabilitation Center and the Community Hospice of Albany County.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 10, 2011at 1pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 12 to 1 at the funeral home.
