Krzysztof Matwiejczuk

Krzysztof Matwiejczuk, 84, husband of Teresa Matwiejczuk of Schenectady, passed away February 3, 2025 at Ellis Hospital. Born January 1, 1941 in Poland, he was the son of the late Jozef and Lucyna Matwiejczuk.

Krzysztof emigrated to the US in 1976, where he met and fell in love with Teresa. Their only daughter, Joanna, was born in 1984. Though a mechanic by trade, there wasn’t a project or fix that Krzysztof couldn’t tackle. Together with help from his brother Marian, and other visiting family members from Poland, Krzysztof and Teresa built their family home in Schenectady by 1990. Throughout the years, he continued building everything from furniture for his home to rebuilding engines in cars. He was known by family and friends as a hardworking man who would always agree to help. His kindness was felt by all who knew him. Krzysztof’s strength and resilience shined throughout his life and to his final days. He was deeply loved and will be incredibly missed.

He is survived by his wife Teresa, daughter Joanna, and grandson Xavier. He is also survived by his brother Marian in Tennessee and sisters Romana and Janina in Poland as well as many nieces and nephews in the US and abroad. He was predeceased by his sister Jozefa. All are welcome on Sunday, February 9 from 11:30-1:30pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie. The family would like to sincerely thank all of Krzysztof’s medical providers, especially the care team at Ellis Hospital ICU.
