Kurt F. Hoffman, Jr., 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 03, 2011 at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Kurt was born in Colonie to the late Kurt and Hedwig Hoffman. In his younger years, Kurt enjoyed playing darts, being in a bowling league and playing the violin, later he would enjoy woodworking, fishing, jigsaw puzzles and spending time with his family. He retired from New York State DOT in 1990 and would continue working with his son, David as a mason. He spent the last few years enjoying the company of his wife and his dogs. In addition to his parents, Kurt was predeceased by his sister, Clara Renak.
Kurt is survived by his loving wife of over 53 years, Kathryn (Gott) Hoffman; his beloved children, Gail Hoffman, Debra (Jim) Tagliento, David (Jennifer) Hoffman, his grandchildren whom referred to him as "Pop", Amanda, Sam (Stacey), Matthew (Laura), Daniel, Vincent, Sarah, and Peter; his great-grandchildren, Samantha, Andrea, Ryleigh. He was also survived by his sister-in-law, Marian, several nieces, nephews and his canine companions, Tally, Jackie and Buddy.
The family would like to thank the staff at Samaritan hospital especially Isaac in ICU and the 4th and 6th floor, also Dr. David Strumph, Dr. Jacqueline Bennett, Dr. Nicole Brewer and the Colonie EMS ambulance for their services over the past few years.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9 am at the Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 1580 Central Ave., Colonie. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 at New Comer Cannon funeral home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment will follow the service at Memory Garden's, Colonie.
