ALBANY – Kyle James Porter, 20 years old, our beloved son and brother went peacefully into the gates of heaven on Friday, November 30, 2012, surrounded by his loved ones and in his mommy's arms.
He was able to walk freely on his own without pain to accept this peaceful, loving gift after a long life of pain, hospitalizations and triumph over some difficult health problems. But these aren't what Kyle will be remembered for. His infectious laugh, tenderness, huge heart, love of others, sense of humor, great manners and determination are what made Kyle special. His favorite things were going to the movies, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Curious George, being with his family, being the Ambassador for the Ronald McDonald House of Albany, being with friends and laughing.
We would like to express our deepest thanks foremost to Dr. Joanne Porter. She loved Kyle like she was his second mommy. That is what Kyle lovingly called her. He liked being her "walking antibody" and keeping her on her toes and did it to the very end.
Secondly, we would like also to thank all of the staff at Albany Medical Center Children's Hospital for loving and caring for our son and brother for 20 years. They became our second family and we will never forget the love, kindness and support you gave Kyle. Special thanks to Colleen (for lip gloss kisses), Krysti (for your personality and encouragement) and Justine (for special times at camp).
Thirdly, we would like to thank the Ronald McDonald House of Albany for giving our son and brother a place to laugh, have friends and be a "normal kid". This was the place he loved the most. One of the most greatest gifts the RMH gave him was to help achieve his goal of being employed. With the help of RMH and Kyle's determination he achieved his goal. We would like to thank Regal Cinema of Colonie Center for fulfilling his dream. For this reason we are asking for donations to be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Albany in honor of Kyle for a bedroom to be dedicated in his name in their new house.
Survivors that will always love, cherish and be proud of Kyle are his mommy, Cindy Machado, his dad, Ronald Machado, and his sisters, Kara Kennedy, Meghan, Angel and Karissa Machado all of Albany, who were Kyle's world; grandparents, Lois and Don Porter of Schenectady and Crystal Machado and Gary Finney of Canaan, NY and his friends who he loved dearly, Jeff, Kelsey, Ali, David, Debbie, Steph, Peg Webb and anyone who met Kyle and loved him.
We were blessed to be Kyle's family and witnessed a legend.
