Lance Neil Oliver, 85, passed away on May 27, 2024, at the Albany Stratton VA.
Lance was born March 12, 1939, in Wellsville, NY, the son of the late Neil Oliver and Doris Allen Oliver.
He was a graduate of Richburg Central School in Richburg, NY. In 1957, Lance entered the Marine Corps, where he was a radar technician and retired as a Gunnery Sergeant in 1977. He was later employed with Sterling Winthrop in Rensselaer, NY, retiring in 1993. He as a member of the Marine Corps. League in Rensselaer Co. (where he also served as JAG officer), the VFW, the American Legion and the Marine Corps Traffic Control Association.
In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his sister, Connie Jordan and stepson, David Place.
Lance is survived by his wife, Rosalie, of Cohoes; daughters, Sheri Hicks (Christopher), Ginger Oliver, Dawn Hammond (Bernard), step-daughter, Reine Morgan (Timothy); 9 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren; siblings, Barbara Rigby, of Endicott, Nancy Thompson, of Cuba, NY and Joy Ames, of Cuba, NY, Theodore Oliver, of Olean, NY and Wade Oliver (MiCha), Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 10AM to 12PM on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy-Schenectady Road, Watervliet. Family and friends are invited to share their memories at 12PM. Interment to follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
