Larry Nix

Larry Nix was born in Sylacauga, Alabama to Mary and John Nix on November 8, 1954. Larry and his brother Lamar were raised by their grandmother Corell Mitchell. Later in life, Larry moved to California and eventually settled down in Schenectady, NY where he met his wife and life partner Penny Nix.

Larry was passionate about providing opportunities to young men who were deserving of a second chance and started his own business to provide opportunities for success to his community.

Larry was predeceased by his father John Nix, mother Mary Newsome, grandmother Corell Mitchell, brothers Marvin and Larry Nix, uncle Roosevelt Mitchell, Aunt Lucille Mitchell, niece Latina Cooper, nephew Christopher Blanton Jr. father in-law Richard Ham Sr., and sister-in-law Rebecca Nix.

Larry leaves to mourn his loving wife Penny Nix, daughter Sylvia Clark, son Joseph Nix, grandson Najari Sykes Jr.-who Larry thought the world of! Brothers Lamar Nix(Tina), Elston Newson (Candi), Kenny Nix, Derrick Nix, Donald Nix (Geraldine), sister Debra Newsom. Bonus-Mom Irene (Ma'Dear), Mother-in-law Barbara Ham, uncle Algie Scott, and a host of relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Friday February 9, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. All are invited to attend his funeral service following at 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
