Latoya Onesta Alves "Toya" was called to eternal rest unexpectedly Wednesday, February 27th, 2019. She was born in Albany, New York on January 29, 1985.
Latoya was educated in the Albany Roman Catholic school system and received her high school diploma from the Albany Academy of Holy Names. Latoya attended Northeastern University to pursue her passion in Journalism, earning honors on the Dean's list; she later transferred to the State University of Albany, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Following in her mother's footsteps, Latoya worked as a Commercial Banker at Key Bank for a number of years. Latoya's last place of employment was NBT Bank.
She is survived by her beloved Son Julian, Fathers Michael Alves and Brian McLennan, Brothers Matthew, Corwyn and Maurice; Sister Michelle; Grandmothers Sybil Nunes and Sheille Derrell; Aunts Sharon and Claudine, Uncles Hector and Ricky and several others; and a host of Cousins, extended Family and dedicated Friends.
Latoya was pre-deceased in death by her Mother Julie Nunes and Uncles Carl and Charles; Grandmother Lorena Armstrong, Grandfather Steven Nunes and Great Grandmother Mabel A. Payne.
A viewing will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, March 8th, 2019 at New Comer Funeral Home located at 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie, NY. Going home services is on Saturday, March 9th 10:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi, formerly St. James Roman Catholic Church, 391 Delaware Ave, Albany NY. Burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery 680 Delaware Ave, Albany, NY.
