Laura K. Koloss

COLONIE – Laura K. Koloss, 91, was a resident of Colonie for nearly 64 years. She passed away peacefully on December 19, 2019 under the care of Hospice at St. Peter's Hospital.
Born in 1928 in Johnstown, NY she was the daughter of the late Jesse Ray and Laura (Lunkenheimer) Follett and the youngest of four children. She graduated business school in Binghamton, NY and began her career as a secretary for the Department of Naval Affairs in Washington, DC. She later worked for the US Papermakers in Menands and retired from the NYS Department of Labor after many years.
Upon retirement, Laura enjoyed many friendships at the Colonie Seniors and renewed her life-long passion for painting. She was an avid artist, producing more than 70 paintings. She was a NY Yankees fan and rarely missed a game on television. Laura also enjoyed working around her house, gardening, music and horses. She was always on the go and cherished her time with friends and family, as well as outings to Saratoga. She was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church in Loudonville.
Laura is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Koloss) Ostrander; son-in-law, Kevin Ostrander and granddaughter, Olivia Ostrander, all of New Jersey. She is also survived by daughters, Sharon and Dianne Parker as well as three nieces and one nephew.
