Lauraine Phyllis Palmer, 92, of Schenectady passed away on Tuesday morning, January 19, 2021 at the Schenectady Center.
She was born on March 10, 1928 on her father's 50th birthday in Schenectady. She was educated in a one-room schoolhouse in Elnora, NY, a two-room schoolhouse in Jonesville, NY and the Burnt Hills Ballston Lake High School.
She was employed for 11 years in the filing and Accounts Payable Depts. of the Clark Witbeck Co. She worked in the Hotel VanCurler now The Schenectady Community College as night Telephone Operator, then as night Desk Clerk and Auditor for 7 years. She was employed by Service Liquor Dist., Inc. in Schenectady for 22 years in the Accounts Receivable Dept. until her retirement in April 1990.
She was a member of the Niskayuna Wesleyan Church. She was active in the Secret Pals, Treasurer of the Women's Missionary Society, the Communion Stewart, and Phone Missionary of the Church for many years.
She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Hazel Palmer. She was also predeceased by her brother and five sisters.
She is survived by her son, Mark Mizener and his wife, Bobbie and her only surviving sister, Deloras Palmer, with whom she resided. She was a loving grandmother of Danielle Palemire, Mark Mizener and Nicole Mizener; three great grandsons, Christopher, Brandon and Cody Plumadore. She leaves many loving nieces and nephews and longtime friends.
Visiting hours will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with a memorial service to immediately follow at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Gathering size, within our chapels will be based on the most current NYS occupancy requirements. Masks are required, and social distancing is to be observed inside and outside of our chapels.
