Laurie Springer Brandon, 58, of Albany concluded her battle with cancer peacefully at home on Thursday, November 29, 2018, watched over by her family and pets.
She was pre-deceased by her mother Barbara Springer.
She's survived by her father Edward Springer of Albany, husband Marty Brandon of Albany, sister Tracy Springer of Loudonville, brother James Springer of Tampa, FL, son Erik Van Wely of Rotterdam, step-daughters Casey Brandon of Brooklyn and Chrissy Mumpton (Ian) of Albany, as well as by her granddaughter Mary, nephew TJ Springer (Jamie) and their children Dylan and Jacob. She also leaves behind several cousins, countless friends and her loving dogs Jax and Lola and the late Fergal.
Laurie was a graduate of Albany High School and Hudson Valley Community College. She worked for Urbach, Kahn and Werlin, Herzog Law, and recently retired after 10 years as COO of O'Connell and Aronowitz Law Firm in Albany. Upon her retirement the firm honored her by naming a conference room the "Laurie Springer Brandon Room".
Laurie relished her work with her O&A family. She loved music, rock concerts and playing guitar with her husband Marty, as well as fashion, home decorating, cooking, reading and bling. She definitely loved bling. Lots and lots of bling. Her husband nicknamed her "Yelfie", meaning "sunshine".
Laurie was involved in numerous charitable organizations and served on the board of Northern Rivers Parent and Child Center. She was a natural mentor and never turned down a chance to help someone, whether personally or professionally.
Memorial calling hours will be held at Newcomer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, December 3, 2018.
