Laverne R. Weekes-Wilson

ALBANY – LaVerne R. Weekes-Wilson, 62, was called home on Thursday, March 1, 2012, with all of her family by her side. LaVerne was born and raised in the Central Harlem Area of New York City to the late Lourecie Selby-Montgomery and Abraham Montgomery. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Abraham Montgomery, Jr. LaVerne worked in the New York State Government (NYS Assembly & Office the NYS Comptroller) for well over 20 years. She was a mentor dedicated to improving lives through education, culture and employment.

LaVerne is survived by her husband, Robert Wilson and her daughters Gabrielle Yolanda Weekes, Melissa R. Weekes and Ashaley O. Weekes; her cherished grandchildren Sa'Vion Abraham Wimberly, Jalah Love Wimberly, Jr., Edwin Joshua Knuckles, Na-Sier Xavier Burton, Amiyah Lourecie Renee Yates, Cam'ron Zachary Payne, and her siblings Eleanor Montgomery-Clarke, Sheila Montgomery-Ross, Veronica Montgomery, Kevin Montgomery, Darryl Montgomery and Robyn Montgomery.

Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 10:00 at Wilborn Temple, COGIC, Albany. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Entombment will be in Memorys Garden.
