Lawrence F. Schliessman Sr., 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 5, 2012 at home surrounded by his adored family. He was born in the Bronx, NY to the late Henry and Wilhelmina Schliessman. Lawrence proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. After serving with the military he worked for McArthur Airport on Long Island as an Airplane inspector. His family was his pride and joy. He enjoyed his train sets, was an avid reader and was one of the most gracious, well-mannered men around. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife of over 66 years, Emma, his Aunt Mary Schliessman and his Uncle Bill Koch.
Lawrence is survived by his four children Louise J. Schliessman, Lawrence F. Schliessman Jr., Christine S. Murphy, and Cheryl W. Schliessman, his son-in-law Timothy Murphy and daughter-in-law Ruth Gaul Schliessman. He is the cherished grandfather of Heather Fogg, Holly Minisce, Jason Motto, Philip Parisi, Courtney Minisce, Kevin Parisi, Joshua Motto, Jared Minisce, Jeffrey Parisi, Clarissa Schliessman, Aseia Schliessman, Angela Murphy and Kyle Murphy. Lawrence is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren, and his adored pug Champ and Shih tzu, Amber.

The family would like to thank the Community Hospice of Albany County, for all of the care and compassion given to Lawrence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 am at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumpter Ave., Albany 12203. Calling hours will be Monday from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. The parish family of Christ the King will gather on Monday at 4:30pm at the funeral home for a service for prayer and remembrance. All are welcome. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
