Lawrence J. Sawyer

ALBANY – Lawrence J. Sawyer, 64, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Frederick and Shirley Sawyer. Larry worked for Albany Medical Center for forty-two years before he retired. He enjoyed video games and loved taking cruises. He was a NY Giants and NY Yankees fan. Larry especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family. In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his first wife of twenty-five years, Dawn I. Sawyer. He is survived by his wife of nine years, Sharon E. Sawyer. He is the father of Terri A. Sawyer and Lisa M. Sawyer and stepfather of Ida Aquilone and Vito Gaudino. Larry is the grandfather of Justin J. Sawyer, Amani A. Mack, Samantha R. Pringle, Michael, Jason and Savannah Aquilone and Anthony and Alex Gaudino. He is the brother of Frederick G. (Sun Cha) Sawyer, Jr. and the late Joseph R. Sawyer. Also surviving is his sister-in-law, Laura Sawyer, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church of Albany, 181 Western Ave., Albany. Calling hours will be on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and/or Pancreatic Cancer Research – The Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage, NY 11714 in memory of Lawrence J. Sawyer.
