Ballston Lake -
Lawrence Henry LaChance of 21 Winkle Way in Ballston Lake, NY, known as "Larry" to his friends and family, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021.
Born on February 10, 1946 to the late Lester LaChance and Bernice Ryan, he grew up in Waterbury, CT. He is survived by Jean, his loving wife of 50 years, his sons Virgil, Edward, and Roger, his brothers Thomas and Richard, and his sister-in-law Linda, wife of his deceased brother, George.
Larry earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He was awarded the Bronze Star while serving in Vietnam with the 1st Infantry Division and 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment from 1969-1970. He later joined and retired from the Army National Guard, serving most of his time as a tank sergeant. He belonged to the American Institute of Professional Geologists, National Ground Water Association, New England Water Well Association and was a Master Ground Water Contractor. He also donated his time to the Civil Air Patrol, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Mohawk Hudson Sail and Power Squadron, and helped to restore the USS Slater located at the Port of Albany, NY. He enjoyed model trains, and loved reading naval stories and science fiction.
Family and friends are invited to attend his burial service in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 10:00 am.
