ALBANY - Lawrence "Larry" Michael Hardy, 55, passed away on January 7, 2007 at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Lawrence was born on August 30, 1951 in Newark, NJ. He was the first born to Orlando Hardy of Newark, NJ and the late Loretta Hardy. He was a graduate of Albany High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College. He also served in the US Marine Corp.
Lawrence was known for his great ability to sing, which he loved to do. Likewise, drawing, dancing, wit, charm, and his winning smile are amongst many of the wonderful qualities he possessed, that will be missed by all who knew him.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Carmella C. Hardy of Albany; six daughters, Tanika (Chuckie) Pickering, Nicole Parker, Jennifer Carraway and Devonna Banks all of Albany, Yashina L. Hardy of Lansingburgh, and Leasha N. Hardy of Watervliet; two sons, Rhazan Carraway and Keenan Hardy both of Albany; two sisters, Brenda J. (Dean E.) Rowlett of Albany and Karen Hardy-Cherry of Livermore, CA; his 92 year old grandmother, Willye E. Tigner of Albany; step-father, John Andrew Carter of Newark, NJ; great-aunt, Sadie M. Foskey of Albany; 12 grandchildren, three nephews, six great-nephews, one great-niece and a host of additional relatives and friends.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the intensive care unit of St. Peter's Hospital as well as the 4th floor staff for the compassionate care and comfort extended to Larry while under their care.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Friday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will precede the service from 5 to 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to www.newcomerfamily.com
