COLONIE – Lawrence Shajuyigbe, 57, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2005 at Albany Medical Center Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Lawrence was born on April 28, 1948 in Ibokun Ilesa, OsunState Nigeria and was the son of the late Joseph and Esther Okedare Shajuyigbe.
Lawrence was a civil engineer with 17 years of service for Region #1 Department of Transportation New York State in Schenectady. He recently retired due to his illness.
He was a dedicated family man committed in helping others achieve their potential in life. His passions consisted of playing soccer, discussing politics, listening to African and Jazz music and watching his daughter play basketball. "Larry" truly embraced life with his family and friends and thanked God for his blessings even at the end". His house was filled with laughter and fun and his smile was radiant like the sun. Wisdom, discipline, and integrity, Larry truly leaves a legacy.
Lawrence is survived by his loving wife, Vera Imperiale-Shajuyigbe, his children, Temitayo, Olayinka, and Olaitan Shajuyigbe; his stepdaughter, Christina Williams and his grandson, Emmanuel Tate. He is also survived by six sisters, two brothers and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Following calling hours the Christian Wake Keeping will be held from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 6th at 10:00 a.m. at Christ's Church of the Capital District 4 Charles Blvd in Guilderland. Interment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
Following the burial a Celebration of Life will be held at 12 Sarah Court in Colonie.
