Lead Bennett

Troy- Lead Bennett sr., 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 with his loving family by his side. He was the son of the late Jessie Bennett and Mary Dukes Bennett.

Lead enjoyed fishing, hunting, singing and listening to old soul music, but most of all spending time with his entire family and visiting friends. Lead was educated in the schools of Greelyville, S.C. He moved to Troy Ny in 1966 with his Late wife Johnnie Mae Bennett and their children. Lead worked for Callahans Construction for many years.

Lead is survived by his children, Terry (Stacey) Bennett, Delinore (Louis) Jones, Edward (Melinda) Bennett, and Lavett Blue-Taylor; 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Lead was predeceased by his wife Johnnie Mae Bennett, son Lead Bennett jr., and great grandson George Davis III.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, New York on Wednesday January 5, 2022 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a funeral service at 2:00 pm. Burial will take place in Ellenton, Flordia.
